Our staff

We employ nearly
800 staff in Thames Valley.

More than 60% of staff work directly with offenders. This includes work in six prisons, five Approved
Premises (hostels), 12 Magistrates' Courts and three Crown Courts and our 12 main office locations.

Other staff work in supporting roles such as training, research, information technology, admin & clerical, finance, personnel and communication

About us: Introduction

Thames Valley Probation is one of 35 Probation Trusts in England and Wales.

We report to the Justice Minister,Kenneth Clarke, and are part of the Ministry of Justice. With HM Prison Service, we are part of NOMS - the National Offender Management Service.

Thames Valley Probation Trust Board oversees the work of Thames Valley Probation and is answerable to the Ministry of Justice on performance matters.

The Chairman of the Board,
Malcolm Fearn, was appointed in April 2007. The Chief Executive, Gerry Marshall, is also a member of the Board and is a qualified Probation Officer with more than 25 years' service.
