About us: Introduction
Thames
Valley is one of 42 Probation Areas in England and Wales.
We are part of the National
Probation Service for England and Walesand, with HM Prison Service, we are NOMS - the National Offender Management Service.
The
National Probation Service is part of the Ministry of Justice. Jack Straw is the Minister for Justice.
Thames Valley Probation Board oversees the work of Thames Valley Probation and is answerable to the Home Secretary on performance matters.
The Chairman of the Board, Malcolm Fearn, was appointed in April 2007. The Chief Officer, Gerry Marshall, is also a member of the Board and is a qualified Probation Officer with more than 20 years' service.
