Thames Valley Probation Trust Board


Thames Valley Probation Trust Board oversees the work of Thames Valley
Probation and is answerable to the Ministry of Justice on performance matters.

Board members are recruited from the local communities and come from a range of backgrounds. The Board meets regularly through the year.


The Board also promotes partnership working with other local agencies in the drive to reduce crime. It is also the employer of our 750 staff.

The
chairman of the Trust Board is Malcolm Fearn. A respected businessman with years of experience in the motor retail trade, Malcolm was chairman of Oxford City PCT Trust for six years andbrings a wealth of experience to the Board.

The Chief
Executive, Gerry Marshall, is also a member of the Board. Gerry has been Chief Executive (formerly known as Chief Officer) since April 2001. He is a qualified Probation Officer with more than 25 years' experience.

Thames Valley Probation Trust Board members

The Board has 10 members, including the Chief Executive. Members are recruited through open competition against a template.

Members serve for three years and may be reappointed for one further term of three years.

Malcolm Fearn was appointed as Chair of Thames Valley Probation Board by the Home Secretary in April 2007.

Gerry Marshall was appointed as Chief Officer to the Thames Valley Probation in April 2001. As Chief Officer (Chief Executive since Trust Status was given on April 1, 2010). Gerry is a member of the Thames Valley Probation Trust Board.
He is a member of the Board's Audit Committee and JNCC and the Communications, Diversity and Partnerships Sub-Groups.
Hirak Chakravarty is a Board member, appointed in April 2007.
Michael Day is a continuing Board member, having served since 2004.
Arif Hussain - is a Board member, appointed in April 2008.
Ian Menzies-Conacher JP is a Board member, appointed in April 2007.
Michael Nolan is a Board member, appointed in April 2007.
Phillip Perlin is a Board member, appointed in April 2007.
    Sue Seager is a Board member, appointed in April 2007.    
    Judge Zoe Smith is the Board's Crown Court representative.
